Mrs. Anderson's class tried to answer their Mystery Science question, "How are pencils made?"
This seemed like the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the old "pencil(s) through the bag" experiment. Mrs. Anderson had a very brave second grader who was willing to sit in the chair! She said, "I know I can trust you, Mrs. Anderson!" To which I thought to myself, "I sure hopes this works as it is supposed to!"
We did discuss how science can be unpredictable. Sometimes things don't go as planned or predicted. This is part of what makes Science so much fun!
We had another super second grader eager to remove the pencils from the bag and he was so proud he gave a correct hypothesis!
These curious second graders look forward to many more Science experiments!
